Content Standards
A standards-based approach to managing and publishing content
XyEnterprise takes a standards-based approach to creating, managing, and delivering content. As leaders in the application of XML standards, we have a long and distinguished history of supporting structured standards in both the Contenta and XPP product lines.
We began by applying SGML for structured content management and automated publishing systems. Our support and use of standards has continued for XML and its related family of standards developed by both the W3C and OASIS. Specifically, we use:
- XML for content. We support the ability to create, manipulate, store, manage, and publish XML content. XML is used for content components as well as metadata.
- XSLT for transformation. We use XSL stylesheets to reorder and transform XML instances at critical points in the workflow, enabling delivery in the form of choice.
- Multiple DTDs and Schemas. Contenta supports multiple DTDs and schemas in the same data repository whether based on an open standard or a proprietary DTD/schema developed for a specific application. XPP supports either DTDs or schemas on a job-by-job basis.
- ATA iSpec 220 and MIL-SPEC. Contenta meets the requirements of ATA iSpec 2200 and MIL-SPEC while adding functionality.
- AECMA. Contenta supports Simplified Technical English checking through integration with third-party products, as well as authoring, management, and publishing of data structured with the new AIA/ASD S1000D and legacy AECMA S1000D content models.
- S1000D/IETM. Because it integrates with editorial, publishing, and interactive electronic viewing technologies (IETMs), Contenta provides a complete end-to-end solution for content creation, management, and delivery of S1000D-compliant data.
- DITA. The highly modular approach of the DITA architecture dovetails with Contentas object-oriented view of the world. Contenta brings the added value of tracking status, content versioning, dynamic assembly and managed collaboration all under workflow control.
