Unstructured documentation

The bulk of corporate information is unstructured documentation. Examples include native FrameMaker, Word, PowerPoint, graphics files and typical documents such as memos, e-mails, or letters. These types of documents neither lend themselves to structure, nor benefit from reusability, so managing them as whole documents is most effective.

XyEnterprise integrates these unstructured documents into the content management system by efficiently storing them in a single-source repository in their native format – typically binary files – for easy retrieval. These native form documents can coexist in the same repository with moderately or highly structured XML content. Benefits include a common user interface to access and manage all types of content, centralized storage and back-up, version management, full workflow control of editing and publishing processes and the ability to use full text or metadata to find content that could otherwise be difficult to locate.
